Norway miss out on Euro place

NORWICH City's Alex Tettey suffered play-off disappointment as Norway fell to a 2-1 defeat in Hungary on Sunday evening, with the midfielder playing the full match for the hosts.

Norway found themselves with an insurmountable deficit when Tamas Priskin's first half opener was followed up by an own-goal from Markus Henriksen on 82 minutes, leaving them 3-0 down on aggregate.

Although Henriksen secured a degree of personal atonement shortly after by netting at the right end, it proved to be too little, too late for Per-Mathias Hogmo's men.

The loss, coupled with a 1-0 reverse in Oslo three days earlier, means it is Hungary rather than the Scandinavian side who take a place at next year's European Championship Finals.

Earlier, Dieumerci Mbokani played 84 minutes for DR Congo as they drew 2-2 with Burundi, inadvertently scoring an own goal during the first half.

The result sees The Leopards progress to the group stage of 2018 World Cup African Qualifying with a 5-4 aggregate win.

Youssouf Mulumbu was an unused substitute for the hosts.
