Two players in midweek action
HARRY Toffolo continued his run of starts for Scunthorpe United on Tuesday evening as the Sky Bet League One leaders won 4-1 away to Walsall.Â
Two goals inside the opening 13 minutes from Josh Morris put them in control, before Walsall pulled a goal back just before the interval through Erhun Oztumer.Â
However, the Iron came out with purpose at the start of the second period; Neal Bishop lashing home from distance soon after the restart to restore his side's two-goal advantage.Â
A string of saves from goalkeeper Neil Etheridge kept Walsall in the contest, but the game was ultimately taken away from them when Morris completed his hat-trick with eight minutes remaining.Â
Scunthorpe have now taken 21 points from their opening ten games of the campaign, while they also have an impressive +14 goal-difference thanks to a number of comprehensive victories.Â
Elsewhere in the division, Declan Rudd featured as Charlton Athletic were restricted to a point for the third match in succession.Â
Josh Magennis had given Charlton a first half lead at home to Oldham Athletic, only for the visitors to salvage a 1-1 draw seven minutes from time when Peter Clarke headed home.
