Max Aarons strikes in Potters draw

NORWICH City's Under-18s were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke City at Colney Training Centre on Thursday afternoon.

Following a goalless first half, the hosts gradually began to take firm control of the contest despite being largely restricted to half-chances by a well-organised Potters outfit.

City stepped things up just after the hour-mark however, going close when Emersson Sambu's fierce effort from the edge of the box was tipped over by Stoke goalkeeper Mitchell Allen after a period of prolonged pressure.

That pressure eventually told moments later when, from the resultant set-piece, the ball was cleared only as far as Max Aarons who lashed home into the roof of the net to put his team in front.

Aaron's strike looked to have ensure the game headed the way of David Wright's youngsters, only for a late header from Stoke's Scott Wara to level matters with time ticking down.

The Canaries still had one final chance to take all three Barclays Under-18s Premier League points but saw Devonte Aransibia's free-kick strike the post via a hand from Potters stopper Allen.
