FA YOUTH CUP PREVIEW: DAVID WRIGHT ON SPURS

1 February 2017

City youngsters eyeing quarter-final berth

NORWICH City Under-18s are ready for the challenge that awaits them in the FA Youth Cup fifth round on Thursday night (7pm), according to manager David Wright.

The young Canaries head to Stevenage's Lamex Stadium to face Tottenham Hotspur for a place in the competition's quarter-final, having wracked up two comprehensive wins in the tournament so far.

The two sides were originally set to go head-to-head last Tuesday, only for the tie to be postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Having seen his side convincingly defeat Watford and Burnley so far, Wright told canaries.co.uk: "The boys have done really well, and scored lots of goals too.

"Tottenham are a very good team with some very good individuals. It's going to be a really tough game for us and a big test.

"Without being disrespectful to the teams we've already played, Spurs are right at the top-end. However, there's a significant positive that we beat them 3-2 here a few weeks ago.

"Both teams will probably be changed from that day, but mentally it's good for the players to have that. We have nothing to fear and need to concentrate on ourselves.

"We know what Tottenham are going to try and do. The interesting thing is getting that information over to the players so they're able to perform to their best."

Tickets for the game are priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions, and can be purchased either in advance from borotickets.co.uk or from the turnstiles on the night.
