Loan round-up: Matthews' Accies survive relegation

29 May 2017

A THIRD consecutive clean sheet for goalkeeper Remi Matthews helped Hamilton Academical earn Scottish Premiership survival on Sunday.

Accies went into their play-off semi-final second leg against Dundee United having drawn the away tie 0-0, with Greg Docherty's 70th minute strike enough to secure victory.

Matthews himself made a number of important saves throughout the match, ending his loan spell north of the border in perfect fashion.

Not so fortunate was Tony Andreu, who has spent the campaign with a United side now destined for another year in the second tier.

Meanwhile, in Iceland, defender Michee Efete played the final 15 minutes as Breidablik made it back-to-back wins by defeating Vikingur Olafsvik.

Two early goals put the hosts in control and although Olafsvik pulled one back before the interval Efete's team held out to take maximum points.
