Remi Matthews kept a clean sheet on his league debut for Bolton Wanderers on Saturday as they beat Derby County 1-0.
Craig Noone netted early on with an accurate header and that proved to be the difference at the University of Bolton Stadium.
Matthews made a vital save from Mason Mount late on to preserve the Trotters' advantage. Yanic Wildschut was an unused substitute for the match.
Also in the Championship, Sean Raggett missed Rotherham United's 2-2 with Stoke City as he continues to recover from injury.
Further down the league ladder, James Husband played 90 minutes in Fleetwood Town's 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Barnsley.
Husband crossed for Harrison Biggins to net the opener for the home side but Barnsley roared back to score three unanswered goals and take all three points.
In Sky Bet League Two, Diallang Jaiyesimi missed Yeovil Town's 3-1 defeat at Crawley Town through injury.
Tristan Abrahams was also absent from action, missing Exeter City's 1-1 draw at Port Vale.
In Scotland, Mason Bloomfield played the final few minutes as Hamilton Academical were beaten 2-0 by Dundee.
Andy Boyle gave Dundee the lead in the first-half and Bloomfield was introduced on 84 minutes in the hope of snatching a late equaliser. However, Karl Madianga sealed the points in stoppage time.
In the same division, Heart maintained their impressive start to the season with a 2-1 victory over St Johnstone, with Steven Naismith playing the full match.
Overseas, Savvas Mourgos and Marcel Franke both played full matches at the weekend.
Mourgos's Dordrecht lost 3-2 at Sparta Rotterdam and Franke's Darmstadt were beaten 4-2 at Holsten Kiel.
