Teemu Pukki has won the Falcon Power player of the month award for March.
The Finnish forward opened his account for the month of March with a double in a 3-0 win over Luton Town. The first saw him fire into the top corner following a good team move and an assist from Todd Cantwell and the second was a close range strike from a deflected Emi Buendia shot.
He then added further strikes against Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest as the Canaries won nine games on the spin before seeing out the month with a 1-1 home draw against Blackburn.
Speaking about the award, which Pukki has now won in back-to-back months following seven goals in seven matches in February, Norwich’s number 22 said it meant a lot to him because it is voted for by the fans.
“In the end one of the biggest things we do this for is the fans, so it means a lot to me that they have given me this award two times in a row,” he said. “As a striker, I know that I need other guys to help me score these goals, so I need to be thankful to them as well for creating all the chances. The team is playing unbelievable well and it is easy to play with these players."
Asked which was his favourite goal in March, Pukki added: "The first against Luton was a good goal, it was a good pass from Toddy.
“I was happy we got the goal because me and Toddy have been creating a lot of chances, but we hadn’t scored so it was good to get that goal from his assist.
“The goal against Sheffield was important as well because it was a tough game. It was really important to score that goal to get us to 1-1 and then, eventually, Toddy got us the win. So, I would say those two goals are the ones that I would rate the highest from that month.”
