Tim Krul: We just want the games to keep coming

20 February 2021

Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul was in high spirits following Saturday’s clean sheet win at home to Rotherham United.

“Really happy,” he said. “All the results went for us as well so job well done. The games are coming fast so we have to recover quickly and go again Tuesday.

“You know with Rotherham it’s going to be difficult. That’s the only criticism we can give today, that we should have killed the game off a bit sooner. We created enough to do that.

“But we can’t be greedy. It’s another clean sheet, another 1-0 win that keeps this unbeaten run going. When you’re in the flow like this you just want the games to keep coming, so everyone’s excited for Tuesday.

“It will be a difficult away game on a horrible pitch, but we dealt with it well on Wednesday against Coventry, so we just want to keep going but I’m proud of the boys to see it out today because it was a hard fight for sure.

“Max on the line tried to jump out the way so it hit him on the ankle! He’s done well because he saved us there. It would have been a big shame if we drew today, so I’m proud to get it over the line.

“Two years ago, we might have drawn today or lost even, so I’m pleased we saw it through, have hopefully no injuries and can go again.”

Christoph Zimmermann made his first start for Norwich in more than a month, and Krul said the centre-back showed typical professionalism.

“It’s difficult for him when the two in front of him are doing so well, Ben Gibson’s been incredible since he came into the club and Grant has stepped up with a captain’s performance again today.

“That just shows the quality of Zimbo, when he’s called up last minute today, he’s there. He’s a top professional and he showed again today how important he is for the group.

“We’ve done enough to have a bigger win but we can’t be greedy. If you see the other results, we extended the gap and are closer to our target so that’s the biggest thing today.

“We don’t go too high or too low - that’s the big thing in this league. We just need to keep digging them out. It doesn’t matter how you do it sometimes. Today wasn’t pretty in the end but it doesn’t matter, we got the three points and keep moving.”
