FPL prices revealed: your guide to the Norwich City assets

24 June 2021

Fantasy Premier League launched for the 2021-22 season earlier this week, with a selection of Norwich City player prices revealed alongside it.

In this article we’ll be focusing on a few of the Canaries assets worth considering for the season ahead. For the full list of our player prices, click here.

Let’s start from the back, where goalkeeper Tim Krul has been priced at £4.5m. It makes him an attractive option to pair with a more expensive ‘keeper, if that’s the approach you choose to take.

First and foremost, you’ll want your defenders and goalkeepers to be keeping clean sheets. Last season, he kept 18 in the Sky Bet Championship, only Manchester City’s Ederson managing more in the Premier League in 2020-21.

However, as Emi Martinez proved for Aston Villa last season, ‘keepers can also score lots of points by making saves, even if they don’t manage a clean sheet. Let’s not forget Krul’s penalty saving expertise, which could turn the tide of your gameweek!

City fans have reason to be optimistic about the defensive stability going into 2021-22, with the Canaries conceding 21 goals fewer on the way to the Championship title than they did two years prior.

That’s partly what makes Max Aarons look like a bargain for FPL managers at £4.5m. Affordable attacking full-backs are popular with the top FPL managers thanks to their potential for goals and assists, on top of the points they earn from clean sheets.

Last season, Aarons only missed one game in the league, scoring two goals and getting five assists across the other 45 matches.

Turning attention to midfield, Todd Cantwell is the obvious choice for plenty of FPL managers. Priced at just £5.5m, the Dereham Deco represents excellent value and allows managers to allocate the rest of their budget on premium options elsewhere.

In his debut Premier League campaign, Cantwell notched six goals and two assists, a record that was bettered last season with six goals and seven assists in the Championship.

It’s also worth considering Kieran Dowell (£5.5m), who finished 2020-21 in an attacking midfield position with five goals from ten matches, despite not playing 90 minutes in any of them.

Finally, let’s address the elephant in the room! With 11 goals and three assists in 2019-20, the phrase ‘Pukki Party’ was born thanks to Teemu Pukki’s electric start to the Premier League.

Managers who put the captain’s armband on Pukki for his hat-trick against Newcastle United struck gold!

He’s an affordable option up front at the start of this season, priced at £6.0m following another impressive season of 26 goals scored in the Championship during 2020-21. 11 percent of managers have already accepted the invite, slotting Pukki into their FPL team.

Finland were unfortunately eliminated from Euro 2020 in the group stages, but that does allow Pukki the recovery time to be firing on all cylinders come August 14!

Now, we can’t ignore the fact that City have statistically the most difficult start to the Premier League, with the four opening fixtures all having a fixture difficulty rating of four or more!

Nevertheless, Pukki began 2019-20 by scoring against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, so it’s up to individual FPL managers to decide how much to read into those fixture ratings.
