The Norwich City FC Regional Development Programme (RDP) are delighted to announce a partnership with Histon Football Club in Cambridgeshire.
The RDP which operates across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Suffolk engages with over 3000 children and young people a week across a variety of youth and community programmes. We are proud that 33 of the young players we have engaged with since 2014 have gone on to register with Norwich City in various age groups.
The partnership will provide a number of opportunities for young aspiring footballers and coaches in the region to be involved in additional training opportunities and will include the launch of an exciting player pathway supporting Histon FC and their Eastern Junior Alliance (EJA) Squads.
The RDP will now be supporting the development and management of the Histon FC U13 EJA Squad for 2019-20 and provide a further pathway for boys identified through the regions Player Development and Elite Player Development pathway.
Each year, further age groups will be added to ensure continuity and progression throughout both programmes.
Additionally, the RDP and Histon FC will be working closely together on community opportunities which will be accessible for local children and young people to be involved with.
Histon FC Chairman, John Hall, commented: “We’re delighted to be able to partner with the Norwich City RDP for what is an exciting step forward for the club and our youth development pathway here at Histon FC. We hope that with their help and expertise we can offer a top class coaching and educational pathway for young players to progress their footballing careers”.
RDP Managing Director, Alex Kaufman, added: “Histon FC has always had a special history of producing footballers that have gone on to achieve success at various levels of the game. Importantly it has helped to progress them as people off the pitch too. This matches our ethos at Norwich City FC RDP where there is a huge focus on youth and community.
"Together through this opportunity, we want to create a positive experience where local boys learn and develop in a competitive environment and can find a pathway that suits their ultimate needs.
"We look forward to a successful partnership and in providing positive experiences for the region".
