With this week being National Apprenticeship Week, we thought it would be a great chance to get to know more about Toby and Abi our current crop of apprentices who are working towards a Level 3 PE and School Sport Delivery qualification and see how they are finding their apprenticeship so far.
Toby has progressed through the RDP from being a player in our Player Development Centres and Elite Player Development Centre. From finishing his GCSE he progressed into playing for our Football and Education programme at Hub partner Ely College. During this time Toby completed a BTEC Level 3 Sport achieving a Merit Pass from his two-year course.
Toby has said “Throughout the year I have learned new skills that I have put into practice within my coaching sessions, this has made me feel like everyone has come out of the sessions having learned something and enjoyed themselves at the same time. The skills I have learned has helped me become more confident with my delivery within my sessions”
Abi joined the RDP after completing BTEC Level 3 Sport at Cambridge Regional College. While at CRC she also completed a Higher Sports Leaders Award.
Abi has a passion for delivering sport and has worked on holiday camps in Cambridge during every school holiday since the age of 14.
Abi stated “I am really enjoying my apprenticeship; I have been getting loads of hands-on experience going into schools working with a wide range of ages and abilities. I have also enjoyed the opportunities to shadow other coaches and learn from them’’
We look forward to continuing to follow both Toby and Abi’s apprenticeship journey here at the Regional Development Programme.
