Student Achievements

2 June 2020

We are delighted to announce that second year Bishop Laney Football and Education student, Warren How, has accepted an offer to study sports performance at the highly renowned Hartpury University. Here Warren will continue to combine his studies whilst taking part in their illustrious football academy similar to a USA scholarship. Warren will have access to full time training as well as the outstanding facilities at Hartpury University. The programme will offer links to professional and semi professional clubs with the aim being to provide an environment as close to the professional game as possible. The programme also boasts fantastic training facilities and access to strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, and nutritionists to lifestyle management and game analysis to ensure players perform at their peak.

Everyone at the RDP and Bishop Laney is delighted for Warren who is a role model for current and future students. A first team regular Warren has suffered a number of injury setbacks during his time on the programme. Warren has always maintained high standards in the classroom and is another student to move into coaching with the RDP working as a community coach for our community programmes where he has impressed many with his desire to learn and manner with the children he works with.

Warren has shown versatility playing all across our back line in the National League Under 19 division. He is at his best playing as a full back making marauding runs, tenacious 1v1 defending and strong leadership skills to help those around him, we will be sure to follow Warrens progress at Hartpury closely.

Warren had the following to say on his time at Bishop Laney and the opportunity he has ahead of him. ‘The course at Bishop Laney has helped, not only in the education form but in general as I have developed on and off the pitch. The support offered by the coaches and the teachers has helped no end making it clear for me that i want to continue the football as well as education, hence I have chosen Hartpury with a similar format to what I do now. I really am looking forward to going to Hartpury, i think it’ll be a great experience with a great level of education and football’.
