Participant Focus - Daisy

11 May 2020

Daisy and her family provided us with some great news this week.. She has secured a place with a ladies senior team for the first time!

We caught up with Daisy about her football journey so far and where she will be playing next season, she said:

“I started training with Norwich City FC Regional Elite PDC at 13 years old.

"Every Thursday at training, I enjoy the different set topics, as they allow me to improve on my weaker areas and master new skills. The coaches are always very enthusiastic and supportive. I also love catching up with my teammates.

"There have been plenty of brilliant moments with my time in the Elites. My favourite was definitely the tour to Manchester. We visited lots of different stadiums such as Liverpool , Manchester City and Everton. The games were tough, playing the likes of Wigan and Rochdale but they really helped our team bond and work on our physical strength.

"In the future I hope to keep up with my football, but career wise I would love to make it into the police force.

"I have played for my local team Saffron Walden since I was 6 years old, becoming team Captain at the age of 13. Without this club, I don't think I would of have had the confidence to trial for Norwich.

"Next season I am really proud to have signed for Histon Ladies FC which I am really looking forward to."

Daisy will shortly finish her time with the Elite PDC Programme, and we wish her good luck in her career pathway and future football.

Further details of our Girls development and community structure for the 2020-21 season across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Suffolk will follow in due course.
