On Sunday, October 11, the RDP hosted an Under-7s grassroots festival for local Clubs across Cambridgeshire.
For many of the young participants, this was a first event with Norwich City, so the aim of the afternoon was to provide a fun, competitive environment providing teams the opportunity to play against other teams they may not have come across before.
This was also a much welcomed event due to recent circumstances, so the priority was to ensure that everyone that attended had a positive experience and that some special memories were created.
As always, scores weren’t taken on the day and good sportsmanship was encouraged. Every child got to take part in a medal ceremony at the end, and hard work was celebrated.
Not only did we provide an experience for young footballers, but we also welcomed five young leaders to gain experience in refereeing and officiating. Will & Will from our Cambridgeshire Player Development Centre programme and Ben, Charlie and Vatan from the Club’s Academy did a fantastic job in ensuring the matches ran smoothly, and without the help of VAR!! Great work lads!
We would like to thank the parents & guardians, managers, coaches and of course the young people that attended the day from Bishop Stortford, Brandon Town, Buckden Falcons, Cheserton Eagles, Ely City Crusaders, Exning United, Eynesbury Rovers, Kennett, Longstanton, Shepreth Spitfires and St Neots Youth.
We hope to see you all again soon.
