Norwich City’s Regional Development Programme is delighted to welcome Yaxley Football Club to the partner club programme.
The announcement of the partnership with Yaxley is the programme’s fourth in recent weeks and will continue our development in the Peterborough, South Holland, Huntingdonshire and Fenland areas.
As the flagship partner club for Peterborough, Yaxley FC will receive a package of support and opportunities alongside our other regionally based partner clubs, Histon FC (Cambridgeshire), Ware FC (Hertfordshire) & Stanway Rovers FC (Essex).
This includes fixtures, CPD events and support of the Junior Premier League (JPL) U13-U16 squads whilst developing and creating a professional learning environment for the players and management at Yaxley FC to be part of.
Jeff Lenton, life president at Yaxley FC said: “Our Yaxley JPL teams will get to play in partner club festivals, select games versus other partner clubs teams and Norwich City FC teams – all under the watchful eye of Premier League talent spotters. And of course, there is scope for players from within the club to progress to the partner teams.
“The initial focus will be on the development of the U13 and U14 age group and then extended upwards into the U15 and U16 age groups as the scheme grows providing a conduit for talent from around the geographical region via this partnership.”
Malcolm Clements, chairman at Yaxley FC, added: “It’s not just about the players, Yaxley will get support (including CPD) in developing our coaches further to higher standards plus creating a better environment for our players, parents and coaches. This partnership is very much focused on reinforcing these aspects.
“As a club, we’ve regularly produced successful youth teams in the local leagues. This partnership represents a step up for our young players with the increased opportunity and experience in the higher and wider echelons of youth football. Alex and his RDP team are totally dedicated and committed to making this a successful venture and we are right there with them.”
Alex Kaufman, RDP managing director, also added: “To secure our fourth partner club, and with Yaxley FC who have a fantastic set up and structure in place, is exciting, and something of which we have been keen to complete for a while. We currently work with Yaxley FC through the RDP, hiring their facilities on a weekly basis, as we host a boy’s player development centre, goalkeeper centre and children’s activity courses at their 3G. To tie up an official partnership which will provide further benefits for both parties is extremely pleasing.
“We met with Jeff Lenton and the committee members at the club, and the passion and enthusiasm for progress and positive experiences for the benefit of their community was in abundance and it creates a great fit in terms of location and pathways for local footballers. This will be our first partner club in the Junior Premier League (JPL) rather than the EJA with our other partner clubs, so it adds excellent variety to our packages and we look forward to continuing our already strong working relationship and opportunities as we progress.”
Yaxley Football Club becomes the fourth partner club within the programme, and coming up over the coming weeks, we have a whole host of joint events with Histon FC, Ware FC & Stanway Rovers FC. This provides the Norwich City RDP with a partner club in each region of Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Essex & Peterborough.
