Without a doubt, Wednesday afternoons are the time of the week our Football and Education students look forward to the most. Following the hard work on the training pitch and classroom, our teams take to the pitch for their fixtures.
Competing in a range of National Competitions, our various squads will play weekly fixtures against fellow professional clubs, semi-professional academy sides and college teams. Here we will challenge the players to put into practice all that they have learned on the training pitch to express themselves and show their skills.
Our games programme aims to provide our players with challenges to overcome. One way we look to do this is by ensuring all our teams are playing at the appropriate level. We feel that as great as a victory by double figures is, this does not test our players to the required standard to help them develop. By having our team playing in the correct standard league, victories must be earned by our players while mistakes are punished. This also means that our players will experience failure, something we feel is important for them to develop and improve and something that may not happen should our teams be in a lower standard league.
On a matchday we are very keen to encourage our players to work together and be responsible for their actions, these strong values and team ethic have seen our players achieve some fantastic things over the years with many players who have progressed to play at a higher standard of football. As we welcome Stratton upper School to the F and E family, we are very excited about what the future holds to see what our players can achieve on the pitch.
