With the introduction of PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) in schools, we provide a proven School Sports Programme to cover teachers’ 10% PPA non-contact time.
The Regional Development Programme has continued to develop a high-quality, yet cost-effective, way of covering PPA release time, through our School Sports Programme. The comprehensive programme assigns qualified coaches to schools to deliver games lessons at Key Stage 1 & 2.
A personalised approach to every school ensures that implementing the programme will help achieve your goals by providing:
An affordable solution to PPA cover/teacher CPD, using minimum of Level 2 qualified coaches and staff
A range of sports and games on offer including hockey, netball, rugby, football, tennis, cricket, rounders and athletics
Schemes of work and lesson plans based on the National Curriculum
Individual pupil assessment
Positive reward scheme
Fully qualified staff
All of our School Sports Programme staff have a minimum of a UKCC level 2 qualification in sport, additional sport-specific qualifications and The FA Teacher’s Certificate.
Schemes of work
Our Development officer will work with your headteacher and subject leader to ensure a suitable scheme of work is in place which complements what will be delivered by school staff.
Your school staff will be provided with individual pupil assessments and end-of-unit tracking documents.
Each school is provided with your unique short- and long-term documents so you can relax knowing that all the planning is in place.
All schemes of work incorporate a series of classroom-based, cross-curricular activities for when the weather prevents groups from going outside.
The RDP is able to support your school’s equipment needs to ensure a varied and engaging programme of study is delivered.
All of the current schools involved in our programme are more than happy for prospective new schools to visit their site to see the initiative in action and provide feedback from a fellow headteacher’s point of view.
An RDP football extra-curricular sports club will use the power of Norwich City FC to engage each participant through each session.
It is important to point out that the RDP can deliver a variety of sports for your school, including hockey, tag-rugby, ultimate frisbee, netball, dodgeball, football, cricket and tennis. We also offer alternative multi-skills and multi-sports sessions.
Each week is themed around a technique, where the children will learn the techniques through a series of skill development drills and fun games that challenge their learning.
All clubs are delivered alongside a specific syllabus.
To help promote the club, RDP can provide a free assembly from our staff. This has proved popular with many schools and the impact of the assembly on numbers attending the course has often meant we have had to provide additional members of staff to meet the demand.
To make the club a safe and fun learning environment, we ask for each club to have a minimum of 12 participants and a maximum of 16 per coach. This, we feel, makes the club enjoyable for all.
Before School Clubs
These would run for 45 minutes to one hour before school.
These would be either 30-minute or one-hour sessions depending on the individual school’s needs and timetable. We ask that the children have time to eat after the club.
After School Clubs
These would run for an hour after school and are normally booked in half-term blocks. Each club is arranged to start after school finishes, to allow the pupils time to change. The Regional Programme's staff stay on site after the club finishes to make sure each pupil has been collected safely.
£3.50 per child (weekly cost, collected prior to course starting) or £40 per hour RDP coach hire (schools are invoiced at the start of each half-term)
All RDP coaches have a minimum of an FA Level 2 coaching qualification and hold a valid Enhanced CRC/DBS Disclosure Form, along with first aid and safeguarding certificates.
