Under-23s edged out at Fulham

27 October 2017

Norwich City Under-23s' unbeaten run came to an end on Friday as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Fulham in Premier League 2.

The hosts enjoyed the better of the early exchanges, and were handed the opportunity to go in front on 18 minutes when Elijah Adebayo was deemed to have been fouled in the box.

Adebayo himself stepped up to take the resultant spot-kick, converting confidently to give his side the lead.

Fulham went close to extending their advantage soon after, with City thankful for the woodwork's intervention as Jayden Harris' strike hit the post.

Matt Gill's youngsters did grow into the contest as the half progressed, and arguably ended it the stronger as Pierre Fonkeu and Devonte Aransibia threatened.

They continued with that positive momentum after the restart, Tristan Abrahams going close before Todd Cantwell rattled the crossbar.

Despite pushing the home side back for prolonged periods, City were unable to find the breakthrough required to haul themselves level.

Instead it would be Fulham who added a second with five minutes remaining when substitute Cameron Thompson stroked home from inside the box.
