World Cup qualifiers for five City stars

FIVE Norwich City players have been handed international call ups by their respective nations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Goalkeeper John Ruddy joins fellow England goalkeepers Joe Hart and Jack Butland in Roy Hodgson's squad that is due to face Moldova away on Friday, September 7, before facing Ukraine at Wembley on Tuesday, September 11.

The 25-year-old made his debut for the Three Lions in a 1-1 draw with Italy as a second half substitute for Jack Butland in Switzerland, putting in an impressive display.

Meanwhile striker Steve Morison has been called up by Welsh manager Chris Coleman for their World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and Serbia.

In search of his first win in charge of the national side, Coleman’s team face Belgium at Cardiff City Stadium on September 7 (kick-off 7.45pm) before travelling to Novi Sad to take on Serbia on September 11.

Morison has got 16 caps for his country scoring one goal in Wales’ 1-0 win over Montenegro in September 2011.

Russell Martin and Robert Snodgrass are also in Craig Levein's Scotland squad to face Serbia and Macedonia - both home fixtures at Hampden Park.

Scotland's fixtures are to be played on Saturday, September 8, and Tuesday, September 11.

Elsewhere City's Canadian international striker Simeon Jackson has been included in Stephen Hart's squad for the double header against Panama in World Cup qualifying.

First the Canucks take on Panama in Toronto on Friday, September 7, with the return fixture taking place in Panama on Tuesday, September 11.
