Club saddened at death of former player
NORWICH City Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former player Derrick Lythgoe in the early hours of Sunday, 30 December, 2012 at the age of 79.
The inside-forward spent four years at the Club between 1958 and 1962, a period which included the 1962 Football League Cup victory over Rochdale.
In total, the former Blackpool and Bristol City forward played 74 times for the Canaries, scoring 29 goals – two of which came in the first-leg of the 1962 League Cup Final.
Derrick then went on to embark upon a long and successful non-league career as a player and manager, before working in local government.
Everyone at the Football Club would like to express their deepest condolences to Derrick’s family and friends at this sad time.
