City defender pesents children with awards

MORE than 45 school children were awarded educational honours by Norwich City defendr Steven Whittaker at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

The students completed a Norfolk County Council educational programme at the Norwich City Study Centre during the autumn term. Students were set a range of mental and physical challenges to complete over the 6 week course to help raise aspirations and foster a positive attitude to learning.

They developed key-skills such as team work, problem solving, communication and taking responsibility. Each challenge was designed to stimulate young minds using football and Carrow Road as an inspirational resource and offered flexibility for the young people to choose how they complete each task.

Tutor Katie Ford said: “It’s really amazing how enthusiastic the students are about coming to the study for an additional 3 hours after school and tackling every challenge given to them. It was wonderful that so many parents, Norfolk County Council representatives and teachers came to celebrate the student’s success, well done to all the students.”

Students from Taverham Junior, Hethersett Junior, Kinsale Junior, Firside Junior and Horsford Junior all received awards for all their hard work from Norwich City Star Steven Whittaker.
