Centre of Excllence full-back to join England Women

Norwich City Girls’ Centre of Excellence player Flo Allen has joined up with the England Women’s Under-15 team this week for a training camp and international friendly.

The squad are based at St George’s Park and will take part in four days of training ahead of Friday’s friendly match with the Republic of Ireland Women’s Under-15 team.

Flo joined the Centre of Excellence at the Under-12 age group and currently plays at full-back for the Under-15 squad for the second year in a row after playing up an age group last season.

Her selection to the England Women’s Under-15 camp comes after she was invited to attend an elite performance camp during the 2011-12 season.

Emma Fletcher, Norwich City Girls’ Centre of Excellence Manager said: “This is a fantastic reward for Flo who has worked extremely hard and is a shining example of how dedication to training can achieve results. She was picked to play up an age group last season by the coaches and this has seen her game mature at a level beyond her years.”

This is not the first example of the Centre of Excellence acting as a springboard to international recognition as Flo follows in the footsteps of Under-17 goalkeeper Nina Scammell, who was involved in the England Under-15 set up last season.
