City youngsters named in Noel Blake's England Under-18s squad
NORWICH City’s 17-year-old winger Josh Murphy has been called up to England’s Under-18 squad for a friendly with Italy alongside his twin brother Jacob on Wednesday, October 24 at Mansfield Town’s One Call Stadium.
The talented young wingers join Noel Blake’s squad for the very first time after enjoying an impressive start to life in Scott Marshall’s Under-21s development squad – culminating in a place on the bench for Josh in the first team match against Doncaster Rovers in the Capital One Cup last month.
Marshall told Canaries.co.uk: “It’s great that Josh is getting a bit of recognition and he’s done really well to get a call-up with England, which is a good way to get some experience.
“It will really help Josh’s development to be involved, even the experience of going away and being with the squad will be wonderful for him.
“It’s an opportunity to mix with a bunch of really talented lads and I hope he can make the most of it.
“We’re really pleased for him and it’s great for all our guys to see him getting that recognition.
“We obviously want more of our guys to be involved, and seeing Josh in there will no doubt give them confidence to push on.”
