Ladies lose 3-1 to Chesham ending winning runCITY fell to their first defeat of the season as Chesham United ran out 3-1 winners in an early season top of the table clash.
City got off to a great start and opened the scoring after only seven minutes following good work from Gemma Farman in the centre of the park, she played an inch perfect pass outwide to Anna Larkins whose cross was met by Natalie Clark at the far post to head home.
15 minutes in Chesham had a good chance to equalise and it took a fine save by City stopper Fiona Coombes in the Norwich goal to deny them.
But the home side did break Coombes resistance just two minutes later to equalise, a rocket of a shot leaving Coombes standing no chance to level the scores heading into the break.
The second half started pretty evenly with both teams having chances to take the lead, leading scorer Basson fresh from a hat-trick against Chichester last weekend, had a great opportunity but her shot was well saved by the Chesham keeper.
And just over the hour mark City had a great chance to take the lead as Chelsea Garrett was introduced and almost made the perfect impact on the game when she played the ball right across the Chesham goal, but on this occasion there was no City player in the box to convert.
With both sides pushing for a winner the game became more open, with Chesham starting to put imense pressure on the City back four.
And much to Norwich's dispare Chesham took the lead on 72 minutes as City failed to clear their lines. City instantly pushed for an equaliser leaving them vulnerable to the counter attack, and Chesham took full advantage scoring their third on 77 minutes to ensure the win.
In the end it proved to be a disappointing result for the Ladies especially after having opportunities to take the lead on several occasions prior to Chesham's second goal.
