Under-18s face Nottingham Forest in semi-final first leg tonight

Norwich City’s Under-18s have had little time to savour Friday’s superb 4-2 FA Youth Cup quarter-final win over Everton… as preparations got underway for tonight’s semi-final first leg at Nottingham Forest.

Neil Adams’ youngsters will undoubtedly be full of confidence going into the tie after a dominant performance at Goodison Park and only one defeat in all competitions in 2013.

They will also have the added incentive of wanting to perform well in front of the television cameras, with the match being shown live on ITV4.

Adams will want to make sure they focus on the job in hand, though, as they try and move a step closer to replicating the City Youth Cup winners of 30 years ago.

Forest haven’t won in their last five but have risen to the occasion in this competition, winning their four ties to the semi-finals, all at home and scoring ten goals along the way.

Neil Adams: “It’s a big achievement for the football Club to get here and it’s the first time we’ve done it since forming as an Academy.

“It’s the first-time I’ll have a two-legged tie as a coach. We’ll treat each match as the same – we’ll try and win the first game and try and win the second game.

“They’re a very good side – we’ve seen them – but we're really looking forward to it.”

Josh Murphy: “We’ve got this far so we may as well just go all out for it.

“We’ve got a good enough team to do it. We beat a very good Everton side, and if we play like the way we did against them, then there’s no reason why we can’t go all the way and win the Cup.”

Nottingham Forest Interim Head of Academy Gary Brazil: “They’re 18 year old boys who look like men but can really be quite child-like inside. They’re anxious, they’re excited – they can’t wait to get on with it.

“The fact that it’s live on television adds an extra dimension to things as well – it’s a big thing for kids this age," he told Forest's Official Website.

“It’s important we get their focus and make sure they’re clear on what they’ve got to do. We have to go out and have a really good go at it.”
