Defender signs for Wigan Athletic

CITY can confirm defender Leon Barnett has joined Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old follows former skipper Grant Holt to the DW Stadium after putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.

Barnett initially joined the Canaries on loan from West Bromwich Albion on August 26, 2010, and after a successful few months a permanent deal was agreed with the Baggies for Barnett to stay at Carrow Road.

He went on to make a total of 55 appearances in all competitions scoring twice in Canary colours against Sunderland and Leeds United.

Stevenage-born Barnett came through Luton Town's youth set-up before moving the Hawthorns for £2.5m in July 2007.

The Club would like to thank Leon for services and wish him the best for the future.
