Canaries to host Cottagers in FA Cup Third Round

NORWICH City will welcome Fulham to Carrow Road in the FA Cup Third Round after the draw took place on Sunday afternoon.

The Canaries will face Rene Meulensteen's side on the weekend of January 4/5, just ten days after the Premier League meeting between the two sides on Boxing Day.

Manager Chris Hughton said: "We're absolutely delighted to be playing in the FA Cup Third Round at Carrow Road in front of our fans, which is a major plus for us.

"Fulham recently changed their manager and I was sorry to see Martin Jol, who of course I worked under at Tottenham, lose his job. But they have a new manager now and they will be keen to improve their results.

"For our part we're very conscious of our disappointing exit from last year's competition at the hands of Luton Town. Although we've achieved some good results in the Capital One Cup, the FA Cup is a wonderful and historic competition which we very much aim to make progress in."

The two sides have met in the competition only once before back in 1908, with the Cottagers claiming a 2-1 victory that time around.

Fulham also lead the overall head-to-head between the two sides, having won 18 of the 40 meetings. City have won 11, while there has also been 11 draws.

"Obviously we're playing Fulham and we will have already played them at Carrow Road in the Barclays Premier League on Boxing Day," added Hughton.

"That will give us an opportunity to assess them properly before we play them just three games and a couple of weeks later in the cup."

A date and ticket information for this tie will be released in due course.
