NORWICH City are delighted to confirm that both Josh and Jacob Murphy have signed new contracts at the Club for up to three-and-a-half years.

The twins - who signed their first professional deals back in January - have to put pen-to-paper at the end of a hugely successful 2013 that saw them both play integral roles in the Under-18s’ FA Youth Cup triumph, and Josh make his senior debut for Chris Hughton’s first team earlier this season.

Hughton commented on the news, saying: “I’m probably as excited about this as I was about any of the signings we’ve made in the summer or during the season because they’re two lads who came through the Academy system.

“They’ve been very good teenagers here at the Club and they’ve developed very well. When you’re able to reward that, it’s something very exciting for the future.

“I know it’s news for which the response of the supporters will be very good. They’ve deserved it on what they’ve done so far, and now the next stage for them is to try and keep that development going.”

Josh, who memorably scored on his professional debut against Watford in the Capital One Cup meeting between the two sides in September, added: “I’m delighted. It’s one of the best feelings, signing a new contract at this brilliant club. I’m very happy.

“It’s been a great 2013 all around after winning the FA Youth Cup, which was a brilliant night for the Academy and the club, and making my debut in the first team.

“I do everything with Jacob, we’ve got a close bond so for both of us to sign long contracts with the club is great.”

Jacob, who has been training and travelling with the first team squad in recent weeks, also said: “It’s the perfect Christmas present. I’m happy for Josh and for myself as well to get some personal recognition. I’m delighted to sign a new contract.

“I haven’t had any first-team involvement yet – I’m close to it, travelling with them has been fun and a great experience – but to be involved in the FA Youth Cup win was special too. It’s been a brilliant year.”
