Young Canaries held by Gunners
Neil Adams’ and Gary Holt’s youngsters put on a battling display against the Gunners, but were unable to breakdown the visiting defence despite some good attacking play.
They also have debutant goalkeeper Will Britt to thank for keeping the scores level as the 17-year-old pulled off two stunning one-handed saves in the final 20 minutes to deny Arsenal.
The Canaries started the game brightly and it was captain Cameron McGeehan (pictured far right) who led the way, seeing a dangerous free kick fly just wide of the Arsenal goal.
Meanwhile Gunners frontman Austin Lipman fired over with the visitor’s best effort.
Pacey midfielder Joe Peacock’s (pictured far left) 20-yard drive then went close to breaking the deadlock before Henry Randall scooped his effort up and over the bar after Harvey Hodd’s pass.
In the second half Gunners ‘keeper Deyan Iliev made great stops to deny City’s Dominic St Louis and McGeehan, whilst centre-back Kevin Lokko couldn’t direct his late effort goal wards.
Then as the game began to drift towards full time, Britt pulled off two blockbuster saves from Lipman to deny the Arsenal forward the chance to steal all three points for the visitors.
