A look ahead to tonight's opponents

CITY'S next and final opponents of their three-game pre-season trip to the USA are Portland Timbers on Wednesday (8pm kick-off local time, 4am GMT).
The venue for the game is the Timbers’ JELD-WEN Field stadium, which holds approximately 22,000 after redevelopment and with over 15,000 season ticket holders is sure to provide a good atmosphere for the visit of the Canaries.

The Club have been in existence since 1975 with their Head Coach Caleb Porter having taken charge in August last year. In his first full season he has so far steered them to second in the MLS’ Western Conference midway through their campaign.
They lie just three points off the leaders Real Salt Lake and one point above LA Galaxy in the table with their season running from March to October.
The men who City will have to watch out for are Timbers’ number 9 Ryan Johnson and midfielder Will Johnson who, jointly lead the Oregon side’s goalscoring chart with six goals apiece.
Another familiar name in the Timbers side is former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre. However, the 35-year-old won’t feature tonight having torn his cruciate ligament in May and is therefore likely to be missing for Portland for several more months.
However, the Frenchman’s team-mates have continued to be solid in defence having conceded the fewest goals in the MLS this season (18) along with the New England Revolution – and recorded a run of six clean sheets at the JELD-WEN between April and June.
