New signing on City arrival

LEROY Fer outlined his delight at signing for Norwich City when speaking exclusively to Canaries Player while with his new teammates in the United States.

The Dutch international completed his switch from FC Twente last week and flew with the squad to San Jose on Monday, joining them for their pre-season tour on the west coast.

“I’m very happy – I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,” he said. “Chris Hughton told me that he’s been following me for a long time so it’s very nice to be here.

“I think the Premier League fits my qualities – I think they’re good for this division. I want to help the Club and I also want the Club to help me become a better player.

Fer says that despite the proximity of his move, he has been comfortable fitting in with the squad.

“My new team-mates are very good and easy (to get on with). It’s been very easy for me to fit in the group. The fans have been really amazing too – I’m getting lots of tweets already.”

He also acknowledged the contribution of countryman Ricky van Wolfswinkel, who has been a team-mate of the 23-year-old through the international ranks with the Netherlands.

“He was saying to me that he wanted me to come and play for the Club – he texted me a few times. That also helped me make my choice. I’ve known him around three years.”
