Elliott Bennett reflects on US tour so far

DAY two of City’s pre-season tour to the USA saw the Canaries take part in another double header training session, which included a tour of the Stanford University sporting complex, one of the venues where the team has been training.

Canaries Player caught up with Canary midfielder Elliott Bennett to see how he has been finding the tour so far.

“We’re loving it, the facilities are magnificent. We’re privileged to be here and we’re looking forward to continuing the hard work,” he said.

“It’s good for all the new lads you get to know them – you can’t go home so you’re in the hotel and you can spend a bit of time together. Everyone is looking forward to training hard and the three games we’ve got coming up.”

City’s first match of the tour takes place on Thursday evening Sacramento time as they face Mexican side Dorados de Sinaloa at Raley Field.

“It’s about getting fit to be honest,” added Bennett. “Obviously we’re all winners, we want to win every game, but as long as everyone comes through however long they’ve got to play and get the minutes under their belt fitness wise that’s the most important thing.

“It’s going to be an interesting test for us because they’re going to be really fit. But that’s the main thing, you’ve got to get fit and there’s no better challenge than playing against people in full-flow.

“We’ve got to go out there get fitness levels under our belt and hopefully win the game as well.”
