Coach 'delighted' with Senior Cup win over Cromer Town
UNDER-21s boss Scott Marshall hailed the professionalism of his side as they saw off the challenge of Cromer Town in the Norfolk Senior Cup semi-final with a comfortable 4-0 victory.A brace from Jamar Loza, plus goals from Joshua Murphy and Cameron King, meant a routine win for the young Canaries from a potentially tricky encounter on the north Norfolk coast.
Marshall said his players adapted well to the unique conditions at Cabbell Park and was âdelightedâ with their performance.
âIt was really pleasing â it wasnât easy because it was very competitive,â he said.
âIt was them coming up against Norwich City, so they were going to be motivated. I thought we dealt with it really well â the physical side of it, the pitch was difficult, the balls arenât what weâre used to â all these little bits and pieces.
âI thought the boys were really professional, though, and coped with it well and were prepared to roll their sleeves up and have a scrap when it was needed. Iâm delighted.â
The result means City will now face Wroxham in the Final at Carrow Road on Monday, May 13th, and Marshall believes the occasion is just reward for the playersâ attitude in the competition.
âItâs great to get to the final, and I think theyâve deserved it,â he added.
âItâs good to play in a cup competition because weâre playing away in the league and thatâs fine, but a cup competitionâs a little bit different for them.
âWe try and win every game, but certainly in terms of it being a cup game itâs a different experience. It tests their character and their professionalism and you find out what theyâre about and whether theyâre prepared to work hard and do it right when itâs not all pretty-pretty.
âTheyâve done really well to get to a Final and weâre looking forward to it, plus itâs a game at Carrow Road too, which is great.â
