Seven City players called-up for their countries

Seven City players look set to represent their respective countries during the upcoming set of International matches.

Incoming striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel has been selected in Louis Van Gaal's 21 man squad for their upcoming friendlies against Indonesia and China.

Van Wolfswinkel will look to add to his one cap for the Dutch as they travel to the far east to take on Indonesia in Jakarta on June 7, before travelling to Beijing to face China on June 11 at the Workers Stadium.

City trio Robert Snodgrass, Steven Whittaker and Russell Martin have been called-up by Scotland manager Gordon Strachan for their upcoming World Cup qualification match with Croatia in Zagreb on June 7, kick-off 8.15pm.

Scotland currently sit bottom of qualification Group A and are yet to win under their new boss, but will look for a positive performance against second in the group Croatia.

Playmaker Wes Hoolahan looks set to build on his four caps for the Republic of Ireland having been called-up by Manager Giovanni Trapattoni for four upcoming International matches. Winger Anthony Pilkington was also selected but has been forced to withdraw from the squad through injury.

Ireland first take on England at Wembley on Wednesday, May 19 (kick-off 8pm) before two important World Cup qualifying matches, the first against Georgia on June 2 (kick-off 5.30pm) and then the Faroe Islands on June 7 (kick-off 7.30pm) at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

The Republic are currently battling it out with Sweden and Austria for that all important second position and play-off position, with Germany the runaway leaders of qualification Group C.

Hoolahan will also be included in the squad that will travel to New York to face World Cup and European Championship holders Spain in a friendly match to be held at the Yankee Stadium in New York on June 11.

Elsewhere City goalkeeper Declan Rudd has been named in Stuart Pearce’s final squad for the upcoming Under-21 European Championships in Israel.

After an impressive loan spell with League One side Preston North End, where he notched 14 first-team appearances, Rudd will meet up with the Young Lions for a training camp in Antalya, Turkey on May 27 before heading out to Israel on June 2 for the Under-21 European Championship Finals.

Rudd will be in the squad for the Young Lions’ group matches against Italy in Tel Aviv on June 5 (7.30pm kick-off), Norway in Petah Tikva on June 8 (5pm kick-off) and hosts Israel in Jerusalem on June 11 (5pm kick-off).

Young City winger Josh Murphy has also been called-up into Noel Blake's England Under-19 squad as they look to make the Under-19 European Championships in Lithuania.

Murphy will be involved in Blake's 18-man squad for a four team mini-tournament with Georgia, Belgium and Scotland with only the winners of the group to travel to Lithuania in July.
