Manager gives his team news ahead of Hammers clashCHRIS Hughton confirmed Robert Snodgrass will be back in contention for this weekend’s Premier League meeting with West Ham United after recovering from concussion.
The Scotland international winger will return to the squad, but Ricky van Wolfswinkel will miss out with his toe injury while Nathan Redmond will be assessed on Friday as he continues his recovery from a hip muscle strain.
“Van Wolfswinkel will be out, but the good news with him is that he’s very close. He’s not close enough for this weekend, but he is very close,” said City’s manager at his pre-match press conference at Colney Training Centre on Thursday afternoon.
“We’re going to see if Redmond can train tomorrow (Friday), and if he does then he’ll be in contention for the squad, but Snodgrass is fine – he’s got no problems.”
Hughton is keen to call on the form at Carrow Road, where the Canaries almost sneaked a result against Chelsea before a dominant performance against Cardiff City, come Saturday evening.
“We’re on the back of a negative at the moment with the Manchester City result, but it was only two games before that we were on the back of some really good performances,” he added.
“It’s our responsibility now to make sure that we get the right reaction from that game, and the great thing about this game is that you always get another opportunity.
“It’s a home game against West Ham and we need to make sure we get the right result. If we win on Saturday, it will give us back a good feel and we will go above West Ham in the table.”
The Canaries boss says he knows what to expect from West Ham, who currently sit two points ahead of City in the Premier League table, but emphasised the need to focus on their own gameplan.
“I think under Sam Allardyce, as normal, they’re a very well organised team and a well drilled team, but we really have to concentrate on ourselves, irrespective of whether it’s West Ham or not,” he said.
“Whoever the opposition is, we have to determine the right way to go about the game. We’ll be doing everything we can to win the game on Saturday.” #
