Midfielder looking to rebound positively from Arsenal defeatNORWICH City’s form at Carrow Road will be paramount this season, says Alexander Tettey – and he hopes the Canaries can get back to winning ways when welcoming Cardiff City this weekend.
Speaking after the 4-1 defeat to Arsenal, central midfielder Tettey was quick to switch focus to the visit of Malky Mackay’s outfit on Saturday.
“It’s huge to get those three points at home. Against Aston Villa and Chelsea we lost, so we have to get another run of winning at home,” said the 27-year-old.
“That’s where we did it last season, and this season that has to be our aim.
“We have to go forward and try and get a result against Cardiff - that’s a very important game for us. Hopefully we can achieve that.”
The Norwegian international is keen to see the Canaries’ recent upturn in performance levels translated into results on the pitch, especially after highlighting manager Chris Hughton’s attacking ambitious.
“Everything he’s saying to us is to go for it – not to just wait, sit back and take it all the time,” he added.
“At the moment we are having good periods, but we are not able to do that for 90 minutes. I think that’s where our problem is.
“We want to go forward and score goals, but as you saw against Arsenal it doesn’t always pay off. Hopefully it will soon, starting this weekend.”
Reflecting on the Gunners’ clash, Tettey admitted they were up against a team on top of their game.
“We created chances, we played well with plenty of movement and the boys were giving it a go, but you are playing against Arsenal and every mistake you make, they will punish you,” he said.
“At the moment, what Arsenal are doing offensively is very good and is at the very highest level, as we saw with the first goal.
“We had periods of the game but then they got two goals and we didn’t know what to do. It was very difficult after that.”
