Club captain confident of carrying on home form

RUSSELL Martin is sure Norwich City will demonstrate their renowned ability to respond positively to defeats once again when they take on West Bromwich Albion this Saturday.

Last weekend’s 3-0 reverse to Swansea City was their sixth away defeat in a row, but they have picked up at least a point in each game immediately subsequent to those losses.

“We’ve always bounced back really well, that’s a characteristic of the squad that you can’t argue with,” said Martin when talking to the media on Thursday afternoon.

“Whenever questions have been asked, we’ve always bounced back well - that’s the plan on Saturday and I’m sure we’ll do it.”

The Canaries’ home form has been the bedrock of their campaign, and Martin thinks their record at Carrow Road is in the minds of the opposition when it comes to match day.

“Teams know they’re in for a game when they come to Carrow Road. I don’t think they enjoy coming here, and we’ve created that over the last few seasons,” he added.

“Whoever we play against, whether they’re top of the league or bottom, we go out and expect to win. It’s as simple as that – we go out and expect to dictate the game.

“At home we just play, we enjoy it and we have a real tempo. That’s going to be important between now and the end of the season.”

On last year’s memorable 4-0 win over the Baggies, he commented: “It was the best performance of our season in my opinion. We played with no fear at all. We played with confidence and conviction in what we were doing.

“We’ve spoke about that – about having conviction and belief in what we do and how we play. We’ll do that on Saturday, we’ll come out and start well like we did against Sunderland.”
