MANAGER ON CELTA DRAW

1 August 2014

Adams pleased to see new strikeforce in action

NEIL Adams was delighted to finally see new signings Lewis Grabban and Kyle Lafferty play together after both featured in the final pre-season game of the summer against Celta Vigo at Carrow Road.

Minor injuries to both have prevented them combining up to now, but Lafferty impressed in a lone forward role while Grabban stole the headlines by scoring twice in the first eleven minutes, with the game eventually finishing 2-2.

“We wanted to pair them up and this is the chance we got, so we’re really pleased for them,” said Adams after the game on Friday night.

“We need goals, the two teams went up last year scored lots of goals and we’re going to have to do plenty of that this season. That’s why the likes of Lewis and Kyle have been brought here.

“I thought Kyle played particularly well too, but the only frustrating thing is that the two of them have had injuries throughout the pre-season at different times

With nine days to go before the Canaries kick off their Sky Bet Championship campaign against Wolves, Adams was delighted with the challenge posed by their La Liga opponents.

“It was a very good workout. I was really impressed with Celta Vigo. It was just what we needed to be honest, a tough test,” he added.

“We were tested in all departments of the pitch; at the back, in the middle and up front, and after an excellent start Celta Vigo showed what a good side they are and they posed us just the type of problems that I think we needed.

“I was pleased with our shape when we changed it, and then towards the end it looked like we could go on and get a couple of goals. All in all, before your first game of the season, it was precisely the kind of opposition and test that I could have asked for.”
