Youngsters put in battling performance against Tottenham

THE CANARIES' Under-18s started their league campaign with a 4-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

A team made up largely of first-year scholars put up a decent fight against their more experienced counterparts at Spurs' Training Centre.

Benny Ashley-Seal levelled proceedings for Jerry Gill's side when he capitalised on some hesitant defending after Ryan Loft had given the hosts the advantage.

Anthony Georgiou restored Spurs' lead, with Loft adding a third after half-time before Kyle Walker-Peters put the game beyond doubt when he found the net via the crossbar.

City showed spirit in the closing stages and got their second goal when Jamal Lewis curled in a beauty from 20 yards.

FULL-TIME: Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 Norwich City

NORWICH CITY: Oxborough; Syme, Burgess, Ramsey, Grant; Walters (Boateng 65); Black (Scales 45), Cantwell; Lewis, Eaton-Collins (c) (Higgs 80), Ashley-Seal.
