Lower Barclayboy and fundraising powerhouse honoured this Boxing DayTHE Norwich City Community Hero for the Boxing Day clash with Millwall will be Canaries season ticket holder Danny Sweatman.
Danny has been nominated by his good friend Dan Fisher for his charity fund-raising efforts in memory of his late brother and fellow City fan, Ryan.
In January 2012, Ryan tragically died at the age of just 19 through meningitis. Many years previously, Danny had lost another brother, Joe, to the same disease when he passed away just a few weeks after being born.
Danny and Ryan shared a true love and passion for Norwich City and Danny has a season ticket in the Lower Barclay. Since Ryan's death, Danny and his family have worked tirelessly to raise both funds and awareness for this disease in an attempt to try and stop other families suffering the pain they have experienced twice.
To date, nearly £70,000 has been raised in Ryan's name for the Meningitis Research Foundation and Danny has been the driving force behind this.
The latest event being organised is a Valentine's Ball at Aylsham High School. For more information on the event please click here.
Don't forget you too can nominate a Norwich City Community Hero. If there's anyone you think deserves recognition for their community efforts or a personal achievement, please contact the Club via email@example.com.
Throughout the season the Club is celebrating the good work that local people do in their community. Whether that's in the emergency services or armed forces (past and present), carers or charity champions, super fans or the region's sporting heroes, we'll be celebrating it before every match.
Ahead of every home match, Norwich City will invite a deserving community-minded individual to be a 'Community Hero' and place the match ball onto a special plinth ready for the referee and players to emerge from the tunnel and collect it for the game.
