A weekend review of City's loan exports

Defender Sebastien Bassong played the full match for Watford as they secured a narrow 1-0 victory away to Reading to remain in sixth position in the Sky Bet Championship.

The 28-year-old has featured regularly for the Hornets since joining the Club in October, with his current loan deal set to expire in early January.

Jacob Murphy come on as a half-time substitute for struggling Blackpool as they faced high-flying Bournemouth at Bloomfield Road.

Since joining the Tangerines the 19-year-old has produced a series of impressive displays, but was unable to change the fortunes of his side as they went down 6-1 to the table-topping Cherries.

Meanwhile, fellow winger Elliott Bennett was left out of Brighton's matchday squad for their 1-1 draw with Wolves due to the restrictions on the number of loan players the Seagulls are allowed to select.

Further afield, Ricky van Wolfswinkel registered his fifth league goal for St-Etienne on Sunday as they eased to a comfortable 3-0 win over Evian.

The Dutch striker also played 45 minutes of Les Verts’ 1-0 League Cup win away at Lorient on Wednesday of last week, which sees them progress to the quarter-final where they will face Paris Saint-Germain.

Back in England, Louis Thompson completed 90 minutes for Swindon Town as their run of five consecutive League One wins came to an end with a 1-0 home defeat to Doncaster Rovers.

Also on loan with the Robins is City defender Harry Toffolo, who was absent for the second week running as he recovers from a medial knee ligament injury.

Finally, goalkeeper Remi Matthews and striker Carlton Morris were both unused substitutes in Burton Albion and York City’s fourth tier draws against Southend United and Bury respectively.
