Coach speaks ahead of Tuesday's matchMARK Robson is hoping his Under-21s side can put in an improved display when they welcome Everton to Carrow Road on Tuesday (7pm kick-off).
The youngsters were defeated 1-0 by West Bromwich Albion last time out but Robson revealed they have been working hard on the training ground since.
“That was the first time we looked a little bit of lacklustre. We didn’t have enough energy to get on the ball, so certainly in the last few days we’ve been working on that,” he said.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the boys to play at Carrow Road again and hopefully we can put on a decent display.
“I’m expecting a tough match. Everton are renowned for producing committed teams through their youth system, but it’s another game to look forward to.”
Robson will have the added bonus of Luciano Becchio and Jonny Howson in his starting 11, with the latter making his first appearance since returning to action after a back injury.
Howson trained with the Under-21s on Monday and Robson said it lifted the players.
“He trained with us and he trained really, really well. Straight away it lifted the quality around the group,” he added.
“I think it will have major benefits because he’ll be playing alongside one or two of our younger players. I’m sure he will rub off on one or two and help one or two whilst he’s playing.
“It’s nice for Jon because he’s been out for a while and he obviously needs a few minutes under his belt to get back into the swing of things. I’m sure there will be a few fans who want to come down and see him because he’s a top player.
“It will be great if we can get a few more supporters through the door because of that.”
