Manager reflects on stalemate at Carrow Road
CHRIS Hughton says a draw was a âfair resultâ as he reflected on his teamâs 0-0 stalemate with Newcastle United at Carrow Road on Tuesday evening.Cityâs boss rued his teamâs first half performance but says they improved after the break, with the final result leaving the Canaries 12th in the Premier League after 23 games.
âWe were poor in the first half period, but Newcastle were very good. They were sharper to the ball than us and better on the ball than us,â he said when speaking to Norwich City TV after the match.
âWe better in the second half. We addressed it, and managed to get ourselves into positions, even if we didnât create as much as weâd like to.
âIt seemed like it was going to be a really tight game. I thought weâd got it just at the end with Robert Snodgrassâ chance, which for us certainly was the best chance of the game.
âWe hit the crossbar too and pushed, but overall I think it was a fair result.â
Â
Midfielder Bradley Johnson was sent-off in the 80th minute after a coming together with Loic Remy, who was also dismissed â but Hughton feels the former red card was soft.
âI think if Remy doesnât get sent off, then neither does Bradley Johnson. Has he pushed him in the chest? Yes he has. Is it aggressive? Yes, to a degree but itâs something you see week-in, week-out,â he added.
âIt was incredibly soft. Weâll look at it again and make sure we make the right decision (on whether to appeal).â
