Jerry Gill takes over U18s, Graeme Murty U16s

NORWICH City are pleased to announce that Gregg Broughton has been appointed as the Club’s Academy Manager.

Broughton, who joined the Canaries in 2012 as the Academy's Head of Recruitment, steps up to the role after Ricky Martin was named Technical Director.

Jerry Gill, previously Professional Development Coach, assumes the role of Professional Development Phase Lead Coach, taking over responsibility of the Club’s Under-18s from Neil Adams.

Gill will be assisted by Dmitri Halajko, who rejoins the Club as Professional Development Coach after a short spell with the FA, while Graeme Murty moves from Southampton as Youth Development Phase Lead Coach, taking control of City’s Under-16s.

Chief Executive David McNally said: “We’re delighted to confirm the promotion of Gregg Broughton to lead our Academy through the next exciting and critical phase in its development.

“Gregg will be ably assisted by Jerry Gill, Dmitri Halajko and Graeme Murty in their key roles and everyone at the Club looks forward to working hard with them to ensure the Academy builds on the major strides it has taken in recent years.”

Broughton held the position of Academy Manager during a six-year spell at Luton Town prior to linking up with the Canaries and is looking forward to the challenge.

“I feel incredibly privileged to be given the opportunity,” he said.

“We want to continue with the progress that has been made, and to keep moving forward. I don’t think changes are needed, I just think we need to keep progressing.

“We have a group of boys on the fringes of the first team now, but we have to ensure that isn’t a one-off and that we have a consistent group coming through over the next five to ten years. That’s the only thing that matters and that’s ultimately what the Academy and I will be judged on.”

Former Birmingham City full-back Gill, who moved the Club last summer and took the temporary charge of the Under-21s towards the end of the season, is delighted to take over the reins of the Canaries’ Under-18s on a permanent basis.

“It’s something I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into,” he said.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my spell with the Under-21s and having the responsibility of running the team, and that’s what I’m going to have in my new role with the Under-18s.

“I’m excited to be working with the group, developing myself with them too and moving along. I’m really thankful that I’ve been given this opportunity by the club.”

The Club will make an announcement on Mark Robson’s replacement as Senior Professional Development Coach in due course.
