CITY STARS BACK DUNCAN'S DAY

7 March 2014

Former colleagues support 'Big Dunc'

WORLD Cup winner Martin Peters, former managers Dave Stringer and Ken Brown and some of the Canary stars from the 1970s will be at Carrow Road on Saturday to help celebrate ‘Duncan’s Day’ – a day of appreciation and support for City legend Duncan Forbes.

City’s Barclays Premier League clash with Stoke City (3pm kick-off) has been ear-marked by the Club as a special day in honour of former Club Captain and Canary Hall of Fame member Forbes, who is currently fighting a brave battle against Alzheimer’s disease.

A selection of ex-players and colleagues of Duncan’s will be at the game and will join his wife Janette, sons Elliot and Scott and other members of the Forbes family when they come out on to the pitch before kick-off to thank the fans, on what is sure to be an emotional occasion for everyone connected with Norwich City.

The full list of ex-players, colleagues and managers joining the Forbes family is as follows:

Dave Stringer
Martin Peters
Ken Brown
Clive Payne
Geoff Butler
Mervyn Cawston
Tim Sheppard
Peter Silvester
Billy Steele

They will be introduced on to the pitch with the family at approximately 2.40pm and supporters are urged to get to the game early in good time to give them a rousing reception. Norwich City Deputy Chairman Michael Foulger will also join the family to represent the Club.

The Club has produced a special souvenir match day programme for the game with exclusive content looking back at three decades of sterling service to the Canaries on and off the pitch by ‘Big Dunc’.

The programme is priced at just £3 and all profits will be donated by the Club to help with Duncan’s on-going care as his fight against Alzheimer’s continues. The programme will be available from vendors outside Carrow Road on Saturday, or from the official stores at the stadium, Chapelfield or The Mall, as well as online by clicking here.

In addition the Forbes’ family’s nominated charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK, will be holding a ground collection outside the stadium.

Alternatively the Club has set up a Virgin Money Giving page for people to make a donation of their choice - please CLICK HERE to donate.
