Canaries in action for their countries

WEDNESDAY evening saw a number of Canaries in action for their countries during the latest round of international matches.

City winger Nathan Redmond scored the winning goal for England's Under-21s in their 1-0 victory over Wales at Derby County's iPro Stadium.

Club Captain Russell Martin played the full 90 minutes in Scotland's 1-0 friendly win over Poland in Warsaw. Steven Whittaker was an unused substitute in the game.

Alex Tettey was a second half substitute for Norway in their 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic in Prague. While Johan Elmander also played 45 minutes after the break in Sweden's 2-1 defeat against Turkey.

Anthony Pilkington replaced his City teammate Wes Hoolahan on the hour for the Republic of Ireland in Dublin - the game finishing 2-1 to Serbia at the AVIVA Stadium.

Canary youngster Josh Murphy played in England Under-19s' 3-0 win over Turkey in Chester, while his former City U21 captain Cameron McGeehan made his full debut for Northern Ireland Under-21s in their 2-0 defeat to Italy.

Goalkeeper John Ruddy was an unused substitute alongside Fraser Forster and Ben Foster as Joe Hart played the full 90 in England's 1-0 friendly win over Denmark at Wembley.

THE Republic of Ireland U19 side were defeated 2-1 by Romania in a friendly international at Turner's Cross this evening with Cork City's Darren Murphy getting a late goal for the home side.

Kyle Callan-McFadden captained Republic of Ireland Under-19s in their friendly against Romania on Tuesday, and will hopefully feature again in another fixture against the Romanians today (12pm)
