Youngsters to recognise season achievements
NORWICH City's Academy hosted their 2013-14 awards evening at Carrow Road on Friday night.Players' Player of the Season awards were given out for each age group from Under-9s up to Under-16s, while there was also a special achievement award given to Josh Murphy, who has made 13 first-team appearances this campaign.
Academy Manager Ricky Martin said: "It was a great opportunity for all our young players to come together as a group, which doesn't happen very often.
"Every player received a certificate for their year, and we gave some prizes for Players' Player of the Year and we also recognised our Goal of the Season.
"To reinforce what a wonderful Club we are, all the winners will be announced to the crowd before the first-team's game against Arsenal on Sunday, which will be a great experience for them."
LIST OF ACADEMY PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR WINNERS:
Sam Draycott – U9
Loves to pass and move and has a great ‘football brain’ for a player so young.
Rio Fox – U10
Combative and skilful midfielder who joined the Academy this season from the ‘Futures’ programme and has excelled.
Mackenzie Harrison – U11
Strong, dominant defender who tries to play out from the back in line with the philosophy of ‘The Norwich Way’.
Zach Dronfield – U12
Midfielder with a great range of passing who has scored and assisted a number of goals throughout the season.
Josh Pond – U13
Versatile left sided player who has just returned from a Tour to France where the squad finished in 2nd place. Fluent in French!
Bilal Kamal – U14
Part of the U14 team that beat Arsenal in 3rd placed play off at Premier League National Tournament, before going on to win ‘Midfielder of the Tournament’.
Kieran Higgs – U15
Forward who is very direct, fast and skilful with an eye for goal. Played for U18 team this season as an U15.
Aston Oxborough – U16
6’5 GK called up for England U16 this season and part of squad that travelled to Montaigu Tournament last month.
