Neil Adams gives an honest appraisal after loss at Boro

NEIL Adams made no excuses for his team's performance after their 4-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

The Canaries were comprehensively beaten at the Riverside Stadium and their manager gave an honest assessment when he spoke to Norwich City TV after the final whistle.

"We're really disappointed. We got what we deserved tonight. There are no excuses at all, we were beaten by a better side," he said.

"In the first half we were actually controlling the ball but the manner of the goals we gave away is a big concern.

"It doesn't matter how well we think we're doing, if we're going to concede goals in the manner we did tonight then it's going to be really tough. We just didn't deal with it well, at all, as an attacking force.

"We didn't look as solid or as strong at both ends of the pitch. I think it was relatively easy for Middlesbrough, particularly the longer the game went.

"There were some good players tonight, some players who played really well for us this season, that didn't have good games - making poor decisions - and some of the distribution was not good enough. That's what Middlesbrough did - they did the basics very well and we didn't."

The Canaries' boss admitted he will look at all areas of the team as he prepares them to take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.

"You don’t make decisions now, but after a heavy defeat like we've had tonight, and a performance that isn't good enough - we shouldn't be losing 4-0 to any side really - certainly we'll be thinking about it," he added.

"We've got a massive game on Saturday against a team that will probably be rubbing their hands together. They need points as well and we've got to be better than we were tonight, that's for sure."
