Defender speaks ahead of Rotherham testCITY’s strength in depth marks them out as firm contenders in this year’s Sky Bet Championship, according to full-back Martin Olsson.
The Sweden international says that was a factor behind him committing to the Canaries in the summer despite relegation from the top flight.
“I think we’ve got a strong team. We didn’t lose that many players so with the squad we have I knew we were going to be up there,” he told reporters at Colney Training Centre.
“We’ve got more players who have played in the Championship and that’s a good thing. It just feels like every time we step onto the pitch I know we can get a result and that’s a good feeling.
“I know we’re going to fight to go straight back up to the Premier League so it was the right decision for me to stay.”
Neil Adams’ men came unstuck versus a resilient Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, losing 1-0 against the run of play at Carrow Road, and Olsson is eager to ensure the same doesn’t happen this Saturday with Rotherham United the visitors (3pm).
“Most teams are going to come here and they’re probably going to sit back and try to frustrate us,” he said.
“We’ve got to deal with that, and our performance the other night was a good performance, we just couldn’t score. That was it. We’ll try and put that right against Rotherham on Saturday.”
On his own form, he added: “I think I’ve been doing alright. I know I can play a lot better, but it’s been alright.
“I’ve been missed a few games and I’ve had some issues back home so it’s been tough for me, but I’m getting there and we’re winning games as well. That’s the most important thing.”
