Canaries unfortunate to suffer defeat at Colney

CHELSEA scored the winning goal eight minutes from time to inflict a 2-1 loss on Norwich City at Colney Training Centre.

The Canaries had edged in front on nine minutes when Jamal Lewis finished calmly after Michee Efete's charging run down the right flank.

Five minutes later, however, Tammy Abraham levelled from the penalty spot after he was adjudged to have been brought down by Aston Oxborough.

George Couzens forced a fine stop from Jared Thompson before Jake Simpson saw a goal ruled out for offside, but it was the visitors who notched the decisive goal on 82 minutes.

Faik Bolkiah's cross was palmed away by Oxborough, with the ball hitting Abraham and dropping into the net, a lucky way to win it for the Blues.

City will take plenty of positives into their next game away to Leicester City on Saturday October 11 (12pm).

NORWICH CITY: Oxborough, Efete, Ramsey, Grant (c), Fox, Syme, Byrne-Hewitt (Black 63), Boateng, Simpson, Couzens, Lewis. Subs not used: Walters, Beauchamp (GK), Aransibia.
